Second Chance Humane Society offers various programs and services to the surrounding region all aimed at various aspects of our mission through addressing homeless pet needs and promoting the human-animal bond:

Temporary Shelter/Foster Program: provides abandoned, abused, neglected, and stray dogs and cats a second chance.

Adoption Spay/Neuter Program: assures the spay/neuter of all shelter pets to curb regional pet overpopulation issues.

Spay/Neuter Financial Assistance Programs: education for all community members and financial assistance for low-income pet owners to encourage the spay/neuter of pets as a humane way to control pet overpopulation.

Feral Cat Program: trapping, testing, spaying/neutering, vaccinating, and releasing feral cats to humanely control feral cat populations.

Pet Placement Program: assists families in finding homes for pets they must surrender.

Pet Counseling: provides assistance in correcting behavioral problems of pets in an effort to prevent the pet from becoming abandoned or surrendered.

Mobile Adoptions: adoptable pets are brought to various town and community events (i.e. farmers markets, festivals, fairs) to promote adoptions and humane education.

Education Programs: includes humane education materials, literature, information and presentations to area schools and community organizations.

Pet Power: Pet Therapy for elderly nursing home residents using SCHS shelter pets.
